The success of Army missions depends on keeping the Bradley Fighting vehicle fleet in top working condition. As an integral member of the mechanical maintenance team, the Bradley Fighting Vehicle System Maintainer handles the maintenance and repair of the M2/M3, A2/A3 Bradley Fighting Vehicle, and the M-7 Bradley Fighting Infantry Support Team.
Some of your duties as a Bradley Fighting Vehicle System Maintainer may include:
– Troubleshooting complex problems in diesel engines, electrical systems, steering systems, brake systems and suspension systems.
– Establishing and following schedules for maintaining vehicles
– Developing technical skills necessary to perform turret maintenance.
– Inspecting, servicing, lubricating, replacing, adjusting, testing, purging, repairing, and troubleshooting the systems and components of the M2/M3 Bradley Fighting Vehicle.
– Becoming familiar with safety requirements and knowledgeable of practices in performing vehicle maintenance.
– Knowledgeable on Bradley system hull electrical and engine troubleshooting skills applicable to all maintenance personnel.
– Maintaining the maintenance on the Bradley Engine and Transmission Assemblies
– Performing major assembly replacement, including the turret and fire control systems
– Diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions
– Performing organizational maintenance and on-board direct support tasks on the suspension systems, steering systems, hydraulic systems, auxiliary power units, fire extinguisher/suppression systems, gas particulate systems and fire control systems
– Cleaning and lubricating gyroscopes, sights and other electro-optical fire control components
– Repairing and maintaining missile mounts, platforms and launch mechanisms
– Testing and adjusting weapons firing, guidance and launch systems

Theo Pozzy of Portland General Electric speaks about the changes within the utility industry and how smart meters have made a significant impact on his business. The days of manual meter reading are over. Today, Portland General Electric has greater visibility into its assets by being able to not only read meters remotely, but also having the capability to control them.
Transcript: The smart meters are one of the biggest changes thats happening in the utility industry in the last fifty years and essentially, were replacing meters that were manual devices that the meter men were going out and reading on a regular basis and now were replacing them with meters that we can read remotely. And not only can we read them remotely but we can control them. So, we can turn them on and off as on demand and then, eventually, those meters are also going to provide us a communications gateway into the home for hooking up to the smart appliances that become part of the smart grid.
As part of the smart meter project, were going to be retiring a fleet of a hundred and twenty vehicles that have been used, traditionally, for the meter routes and that reduces our carbon foot print significantly.
